I recently read an interesting article by Cathy Davidson about traditional learning models and why we need to unlearn old habits and the accepted measures of successful outcomes in education.
It seems we need to reassess what we are educating our students for and this also relates to one of Sir Ken Robinson‘s talks that I mentioned back in March and the new methods of the Khan Academy.
Are we teaching people merely to pass tests or are we trying to help people become valuable colleagues and members of the community? Does the way we currently educate people prepare them for the ‘real world’?
